WBCHC HAS NEW DIRECTORS - for immediate release
Recently, the Whitewater Bromley Community Health Centre Board of Directors held their Annual General Meeting in Cobden. Guest speaker Treena Lemay, president of the Board of Directors for the newly opened Petawawa Centennial Family Health Centre, gave an interesting presentation of how the Health Centre came to life as quickly as it did in Petawawa. John Jordan, Executive Director of Lanark Health and Community Services which administers WBCHC, revealed the new CHC logo which will be used at all Community Health Centres in Ontario to denote that a Community Health Centre is available. Mike Lemay, vice-chair of the Champlain LHIN, brought greetings from the LHIN board.
Out-going Chair Ron Jaremkow described the past year as a successful one, even though the elusive goal of becoming a stand-alone CHC has not yet been achieved despite much effort in this direction. He described a new effort by WBCHC, Eganville, Golden Lake and Killaloe to form a network of Health Centres working under a common umbrella. The network is tentatively known as the Renfrew County Health Network. A steering committee has been formed towards this goal with presentations being made to the local Champlain LHIN board. Ron expressed his thanks to several directors who would not be returning for another term.
The audited Financial Statement was presented by Annette Mantifel and revealed that the Board of Directors is financially sound. Thanks were expressed to Ms. Mantifel for the excellent job she has done as Treasurer. Reports from the various Committees were presented and accepted by the Board members, as were several changes to the Boards By-laws.
Izett McBride conducted the election of directors and the directors for the term 2008 – 2009 will be: Earl Bennett, Bev Buchanan, Lynne Dunn, Ron Jaremkow, Randi Keith, Pat Krose, Izett McBride, Rob McKenzie, Jack McLaren and Brian Yuke. Immediately after the AGM, the directors elected Pat Krose as the new Chairperson, Bev Buchanan as Secretary and Randi Keith as Treasurer. All other Directors will be asked to Chair various committees as the Chair sees appropriate.
The new board is very optimistic that the CHC will have another successful year through 2008 – 2009.
